Former President of Kosovo and WGLF Speaker Returns to U.Va.
Former President of the Republic of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga returned to the University of Virginia for an intimate luncheon hosted by Provost Tom Katsouleas, a tour of the Declaration of Independence Exhibit at the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library and a visit to Professor Kirsten Gelsdorf’s course on Humanitarian Crises Response.
Jahjaga, a UVA alumni, was last at the University for the Women’s Global Leadership Forum in 2017. At the Forum Jahjaga spoke on the topic of Women and Political Power, during the recent luncheon, Jahjaga focused on Women’s Leadership in an Era of Conflict. Jahjaga served as the first woman President of the Republic of Kosovo elected by Parliament in 2011. At 36 years of age, she was the youngest female leader in the world.
