James B. Murray, Jr.

In 2012, Jim Murray co-founded the Presidential Precinct, a non-profit organization operating as a collaboration of UVA, William and Mary, Monticello, Montpelier, Highland, and Morven.  Since its founding, the Presidential Precinct has gathered over 500 foreign visitors from more than 150 countries.  Mr. Murray is a founder and managing partner of Court Square Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Charlottesville, Virginia, specializing in telecommunications, information technology, and media technology investments.  Previously, he was Chairman, Managing Director, and a Founder of Columbia Capital of Alexandria, Virginia, a venture capital fund specializing in telecommunications and information technology investments now managing over $3B.  He is a managing General Partner of Greenmont Timber, a timber investment management fund. From 2009-2011, Mr. Murray served on the Advisory Board of the Export – Import Bank of the United States and served as Chairman from 2010-2011.  He currently serves as Vice Rector and Chairman of the Finance committee on the UVA Board of Visitors.  He was previously appointed to the Board of Visitors of the College of William and Mary in 1991, and served as the Vice Rector from 1993 - 1994 and Rector of the College from 1994 - 1996.  Mr. Murray received his B.A. from UVA, a J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, and an honorary Doctor of Laws from the College of William and Mary.
