The Bicentennial of the University of Virginia commemorates two centuries of academic excellence and civic leadership while looking forward to how one of America’s leading public Universities can contribute to the Commonwealth and country through global discourse.
On October 6, 2017 UVA began its Third Century, celebrating the laying of the University Cornerstone by Presidents Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe. On November 13-14, the University will convene a Women’s Global Leadership Forum in Charlottesville, Virginia hosted by President Teresa Sullivan and Honorary Chair Dorothy McAuliffe, First Lady of Virginia.
The Forum, spearheaded by UVA Morven Programs, will bring together more than 200 women from the University and around the world to address the “Role of Women in 21st Century Democracy” and to explore the challenges and contributions women have made in today's complex society. Visionary leaders from over 20 countries will participate in this event in partnership with the Presidential Precinct.
Participants will discuss a number of multi-disciplinary issues, including health and education, economic mobility and equity, and women and political power.
This program is supported by the University of Virginia Bicentennial.
