Frank M. Conner III
Frank M. Conner III received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1978 and earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1981. He is a member of the Raven Society, Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society, and a recipient of the Gray-Carrington Award in 1977. Mr. Conner is a partner with the global legal services firm of Covington & Burling LLP. He has extensive experience advising clients with respect to mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance and governance matters. He is listed in Chambers USA, Legal 500 U.S., Washington DC Super Lawyers, and The Best Lawyers in America in various substantive specialties. Mr. Conner serves as Counsel to the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs. He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, as Chairman of the Board of the Virginia College Savings Plan, as a Trustee of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and as a Board member of Ford’s Theatre, the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia, and the DC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Mr. Conner also serves as a board member on the College Foundation of the University of Virginia and on the Jefferson Scholars Foundation. Mr. Conner was appointed to the Board of Visitors by Governor McAuliffe in 2014. In June 2015, Conner’s colleagues unanimously elected him as vice rector. On July 1, 2017, he became rector.
