Alex Arriaga is managing partner at Strategy for Humanity LLC. She has served in leadership positions at the White House, in the U.S. Congress, and at major non-profit organizations and has vast expertise on global human rights and humanitarian issues. Ms. Arriaga began her career in the U.S. Congress as director of the bipartisan Congressional Human Rights Caucus. She later was appointed Senior Adviser in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the U.S. Department of State. There she served as U.S. Delegate to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, member of the Department’s Bosnia Task Force, and Executive Director of Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s Advisory Committee on Religious Freedom Abroad. At the White House, Arriaga was Special Assistant to President Clinton and chief of staff to Governor Buddy McKay, the President’s Special Envoy for the Americas. Her efforts centered on labor and trade agreements and on the promotion of human rights and democracy. Amnesty International later recruited her to lead government relations, policy and advocacy. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Ms. Arriaga is a Trustee of The Jefferson Trust.
